CNU Varsity Sailing Is Back – Now Let’s Build Its Future

Christopher Newport University announced on July 8, 2026 that varsity sailing will return this fall.

This is a milestone worth celebrating. Alumni, families, donors, friends, and the wider sailing community came together to advocate, give, and show that CNU Sailing is worth investing in-and that support helped create a sustainable path forward.

Now the work continues.

The Christopher Newport Sailing Foundation, Inc. (CNSF), an independent IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity, remains committed to partnering with CNU to support the long-term success of the sailing program. Our focus now is to help strengthen and sustain CNU Sailing for future generations of Captains through continued philanthropic support.

CNSF is accepting completed donations at this time. Gifts designated to the Save CNU Sailing Campaign are restricted to that purpose and will be recorded and administered consistent with donor intent, applicable law, and Board-approved financial controls.
